August 4- August 11- The Erie Canal

Many great towns along the Erie Canal. We picked up Team Erie Canal (Howard and Marcia Aduss and Kathy Fisher) in Buffalo and rode and ate our way across upstate New York. We saw the canal and the locks in action. Once again we got lost and ended up riding in a circle for two hours. I think that makes it every state I have been lost in. The problem with this time was that it started raining during those 2 hours, we had flats and, of course, both patch kits didn't have glue that was functional and the spare tube had a hole in it. We stayed at a number of bed and breakfasts, including one that the owner raised llamas. Cooperstown (home of the Baseball Hall of Fame) was awesome. We managed to see a few other halls on the way...Today we rode from Cooperstown to Schenectady (75 miles with the panniers), got there in time, somehow, to rent a car (that's another long story) and make it to Saratoga for the 8th race. Of course, my horse finished dead last.

JP, as the old saying goes, "you're my mule if you never win a race, as long as you come in". Don't know how you do what you're donig, but keep it up. You have to be enjoying having your son riding with you.

You rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
